Inktober 2026

written on Tuesday, November 3, 2026

This year I got convinced by coworkers to give another try at Inktober, the challenge where you must create one drawing with ink every day. The Inktober web site provides a "prompt list": a list of words for each day, which you can choose to follow.

Unlike for my previous entries, I could not think of a recurring theme so just went with drawing whatever the prompt made me think of.

  • Day 1, apple. An apple with a little buddy living in it.
  • Day 2, relic. My first computer, an Amstrad CPC 464. The machine that made 9-year-old-me decide he wanted to be a programmer and not a cartoonist :)
  • Day 3, miniature.
  • Day 4, cactus. As a Gaston Lagaffe fan, I tried to draw one of his characters but... it's hard! My respect for Franquin mastery got even higher after that attempt.
  • Day 5, smack. TIL that smack is also the name of a small fishing boat, so here is one.
  • Day 6, ogre. This one turned out a bit scarier than expected.
  • Day 7, panic. Loosely inspired from a certain coyote that never manages to catch a certain running bird.
  • Day 8, stinky. You tell me stinky, I think Camembert 🇫🇷 (though it's not the worse)
  • Day 9, ram. Mother Nature got upset by French grown-ups-with-power kettling demonstrating younglings. She decided to send her own riot force: The Charging Rams.
  • Day 10, mystical. The mystical Flying Spaghetti Monster finally appeared in front of their believers.
  • Day 11, rescue. Thanks to Marguerite the cow, this little cat did not drown.
  • Day 12, toss. Why toss a crumpled paper ball in the trash-can manually when you can build a machine to toss it for you?
  • Day 13, flimsy. That boat does not look very robust, it's a good thing the mouse is close to the coast.
  • Day 14, lady. This one is different from my previous drawings. The prompt felt like a great opportunity to pay a tribute to an amazing lady. Her work on modeling Earth was instrumental in creating, among other things, the GPS navigation system. This is a portrait of Dr Gladys West, based on her picture on Wikipedia.
  • Day 15, hooray!
  • Day 16, gangly. Playing basket ball with Long Arm Andy was not that fun.
  • Day 17, contraption. Can you read it?
  • Day 18, flightless. Who said penguins can't fly?
  • Day 19, confused. Agent 000 thinks this code he got the enemy to confess is a bit confusing.
  • Day 20, lounge. Nothing like having a nap in the grass, under a tree.
  • Day 21, hero. A 3 legged cat dreaming of being Super Cat! This is inspired from my own cat, who lost his front-right leg to a snare when he was 1 year old (don't worry too much about him: he is 10 now, very healthy and has no problem to scratch you with his 3 remaining legs...)
  • Day 22, beacon. This was another opportunity to draw a character from Gaston Lagaffe: his seagull.
  • Day 23, dapper. This teddy bear is getting ready for a fancy dinner.
  • Day 24, bake. That cake did not go as Gaston planned.
  • Day 25, fracture. Pretty sure this is not how a submarine fracture looks like, but oh well, this is not a scientific drawing :)
  • Day 26, zip. In case you are wondering what this is one is about, search for "winzip" :)
  • Day 27, dumb. When it comes to being dumb, Shadoks are hard to beat!
  • Day 28, trophy. Sometimes it's the good creature that gets the trophy.
  • Day 29, tusk. Gotta make these tusks shine!
  • Day 30, cookie. Difficult choice for the Cookie Monster!
  • Day 31, flex. This is (supposed to be) Rambro from Broforce, a super fun video game.
  • All my drawings!
